The Blue Jacket 40 is a modern interpretation of a performance cruiser, designed to compete successfully in around-the-buoy and offshore races yet provide a level of comfort, build quality, and ease of use that would gratify the entire family. The hull form and appendages of the Blue Jacket are designed to work in harmony with you and the water.

Designed in 2012 by Tim Jackett and Bob Johnson, the Blue Jacket 40 won awards as Cruising World Magazine’s 2014 Domestic Boat of the Year and 2014 Best Mid-Sized Cruiser 39’-41’. A total of 14 Blue Jacket 40 were produced by Island Packet Yachts from 2013-2017. When ownership at Island Packet Yachts changed in 2017, the new company chose to focus on the production of their Island Packet blue water offshore cruisers, mothballing the Blue Jacket 40 tooling and marketing efforts for future production. Niche Watercraft LLC acquired the Blue Jacket Yachts tooling and brand assets in July 2022 and is developing 2 new complementary Blue Jacket models to accompany the Blue Jacket 40 on future Boat of the Year winner’s podiums.

The sailplan provides performance that extends the daily sailing range and the potential to generate more race trophies. Featuring a 2 or 3 cabin arrangement with the amenities and build quality expected of a luxury sailing yacht, the Blue Jacket 40 delivers ultimate luxury and comfort for this versatile sailing yacht.
